The story behind the image
Let’s begin the year with a bit of peace for all. This is the image of the ‘Angel of Peace’ that overlooks the city of Munich in Germany from above the Isar River. Let’s all hope that 2022 will be more peaceful than 2021, especially considering the ongoing developments around the Covid-19 pandemic throughout the world. I know it’s wishful thinking.
I shot this image on a cold, clear winter day in 2007. The afternoon light was illuminating the statue perfectly, and the 1/400 sec exposure time was short enough to avoid camera shake on a non-IS lens. I admit that I’ve cropped away a bit of the surrounding space to put the focus on the statue.
