The story behind the image
We had been on that day to the Antelope Slot Canyon already and were still deeply impressed by the beauty of it. Now we were on our way to Monument Valley, another exciting place to visit. In Kayenta (AZ) we turned left into the Highway 163 and drove North. We felt like we had been thrown into a western movie because the landscape was getting really deserted. The highway was as straight as it could possibly be. And a fantastic photo opportunity.
I stopped the car and grabbed the camera. It was enough traffic that I had to wait a few minutes until no car came (from behind) and the cars in the distance were still too far away to be clearly visible. I adore this shot, and the memories associated with it.
Why this image for New Year’s Eve? Well, I hope that my personal ‘Road Ahead’ will be as straight as this highway, at least for the year 2022. (It probably won’t, but let’s cross that bridge when we get to it.)
With this I wish you, my dear followers, a happy and prosperous year 2022.
