The story behind the image
I was raised near Kiel, Germany. From our appartment it was just a 20-minute bike ride to Schilksee with its olympic yacht harbour and beach.
A bit further up the coastline there is Strande with its prominent Bülk lighthouse, marking the western entrance to the Kieler Förde. In September 2002 I visited my mother and we drove to Strande and Bülk for a walk along the sea and a coffee at the café next to the lighthouse.
I opted for a wide angle here to show the beautiful blue sky and the horizon while providing lots of copyspace for those who need it.
