The story behind the image
The ‘Angel of Peace’ overlooks the city of Munich in Germany high above the Isar River.
This shot shows the iconic statue on a cold, clear winter day in 2007. The afternoon light was illuminating the statue perfectly, and the 1/400 sec exposure time was short enough to avoid camera shake on a non-IS lens. I really like the way the sunlight highlights the statue which contrasts well with the blue background. Even the high clouds look great and draw the viewer into the picture. And the snow at the bottom shows that it was indeed winter, not spring. Nice.
