The story behind the image
We approached the Canadian Rocky Mountains from the west, coming from Clearwater which was our last stopover before Jasper. Clearwater is a busy community south of the Wells Gray Provincial Park with several stunning hikes and viewpoints. It is less busy compared to the Jasper National Park, though, which makes it very attractive for those looking for a peaceful time out in the woods.
This image shows Helmcken Falls at the Wells Gray Provincial Park, 137 Meters high and the fourth largest waterfall in Canada. You can reach the viewing platform after an easy, short walk which is wheelchair accessible.
As you can see, the weather was just so-so. It had rained earlier that day, so we were happy that at least the sun was coming out for a few minutes. Yet, I like this image as it shows the raw power and majestic appearance of the water that thunders down.
