The story behind the image

This morning I shared an image of the regional flag of Alsace blowing in the wind on one of the watchtowers in Obernai, France. Here’s another image of that watchtower, shot late in the afternoon from Place André Neher inside the city walls. The setting sun was casting a warm light and long shadows, but the sky had some dark clouds now.

Despite the clouds, I like this image because the house illustrates the coziness you feel when inside the city walls while the view from the outside is rather scary to shy away attackers. Of course, the warm colors add to this feeling.
