The story behind the image
Alsace has several beautiful historic towns, and one of these is Obernai with its old town, a stunning market place, narrow streets and many old buildings. In the old times, the town was protected by city walls and watchtowers.
My photo shows the top of the watchtower near Place André Neher. The regional flag of Alsace had been pulled up, and it was blowing nicely in the wind. Of course, I would have preferred the wind blowing from the south, so the flag would be showing correctly, i.e. from left to right. And I wouldn’t want to mirror the image horizontally (even if very few people might notice.) So, in a way, this image is flawed. But hey, one image is better than no image at all, right?
I definitely love the vibrant colors of the flag against the blue sky that provides some copyspace. Nice.
