The story behind the image
Did I tell you that we love Italy, the Italians, and all things Italian? Tuscany is one of the many reasons for this ongoing love. Most people relate Tuscany to the major attractions – Florence, Siena, Pisa – but very few take the time to spend some time on the countryside. We did in August 2008 and booked a room at the Dievole Winery. From here, you we explored the area, especially Siena which is just 20 kilometers away. But be prepared for lots of tourists – and a remarkable difference between the busy city and the relaxing winery.
One evening we reserved a table at Dievole’s garden restaurant. We expected good food and a good wine, sure, but we were stunned to get a perfect four-course meal with different wines each matching the specific course. Of course, the wines were all from their vineyard.
I shot this photo right before we took our seats at the table, and I love this image not just for the nice memories but because it really illustrates the awesome mood of that moment.
