The story behind the image
When we were at the the southernmost point of the African continent near Cape Agulhas, South Africa, we also visited the official landmark at the location. On its top you’ll find a windrose indicating the distances to different places in the world. Here’s a detailed view of the arrow pointing to New York: 12745 km (about 7920 miles). Wow.
I love this detail as it is pretty far away for NYC, and the composition is just about right. The wide open aperture (probably f/1.4) creates a very narrow focus area while the front and the back are being blurred out. The reduced color space adds to the attractiveness of the image.
Nice.
