The story behind the image
Last week the European Championships 2022 were held in Munich, Germany. We had the pleasure to attend two evening sessions in the Olympic Stadium, and it had been a stunning experience. It’s simply fantastic to be in a nearly sold-out giant sports stadium on a warm summer evening under a clear blue sky and watch top athletes give their best to become a champion.
While I shot several images of the stadium itself, this image actually gripped me the second I saw it: This floodlight was almost right above our seats, and illuminated the stadium. The sun had set a while ago, but the sky was still not pitch black but showing a faint blue. The floodlight with its super bright white light is a welcome counterpart to the blue colors in the back. I held my phone flat, pointing upward and fiddled a bit to get the frame I wanted.
I imagine this to be useful for key note speeches, for introductions of any kind, and even for articles with lots of text. It works for headlines and longer text alike.
Of course, I am a bit disappointed by the fact that I did not carry one of my DSLRs with a decent lens, but then again, the image is what counts. For me.
