The story behind the image

Need a bit of maritime spice in your life? Here we go: sturdy ropes, orange buoys and a green fishnet, found at the harbor in Eckernförde, Germany.

The harbor of Eckernförde used to be a busy working harbor for a decent fleet of fish boats. Very few boats have remained that go out every night or morning to pull in their catch (if any.) Upon returning to the harbor they sell off some fish directly from the boat, an intense experience for all senses. And they still use the harbor for putting the equipment that is currently unneeded or requires repair.

I like this shot because it perfectly combines the concept of complexity and chaos with the simplicity of the theme – maritime detail. Nice.
