The story behind the image
As a wedding photographer I don’t get to shoot models very often. Back in 2009 I wanted to experience what it is like when working with models and decided to attend a half-day photo training course in Munich. The teacher had booked Edin Kamaric who stood at the beginning of his model career at that time.
The first part was a discussion about what makes a good portrait photo. I had my own ideas which resonated very well with the trainer. The location was an old parking garage in Munich’s Westend, and Edin had put on a black suit and sunglasses. The main entrance of the garage provided the backdrop for grey, industrial looking shots, but after a while we went further down into the garage. I pulled up my car, switched on the headlights, and asked Edin to position in front of the car. The result was fantastic as the photo was all dark and mysterious. The slight lens flare and the reflections in the sun glasses added to the mood.
Wanna book Edin? He’s under contract with Model Management.
Disclaimer: Despite the fun shoot, I have not done a lot of model shootings since then.
