The story behind the image
On Labor Day (1st May each year), German unions traditionally call for demonstrations across Germany.
Almost 20 years ago, on May 1st, 2007, the demonstration in Munich, attracted about 3,000 demonstrants (estimated) who gathered on the Marienplatz to listen to speeches from union leaders and union friends. Back then, the key slogan was “Du hast mehr verdient!” (“You deserve more!”), accompanied by demands of a 6.5% salary increase.
This participant wore a button promiting a 6 hour working day (i.e., 30 hours per week) while keeping the full salary. Of course, this was wishful thinking, a bold goal to keep union members motivated.
I admit that the idea is nice, though. 🙂
