The story behind the image
A while ago I blogged the story of an old Ivory-ranked house in Plettenberg, Germany, and why it had to give way to a large highway bridge.
Just a few steps down the road was (and still is) this beautiful church – the Johannis-Kirche. It is a typical church and looks like it has been there for a very long time, but in fact the church got inaugurated as late as 1914.
This photo caught my eye because the slide in 2026 still shows fresh colors that can (almost) compete with Kodacolor slides. There is very little grain in the high resolution scan, which makes it a real gem.
Of course, there are countless small details to be discovered: the ARAL pertol station at the next corner, the old cars, the building next to the church.
Lovely.
