The story behind the image
In 2001, Petra and I spent a long weekend in London, UK, to explore the city and do some Christmas shopping. I brought my tiny Kodak DC 4800 Zoom Digital camera which I had purchased earlier that year.
One afternoon we explored the quarter of Notting Hill. Of course, we were triggered by the movie Notting Hill (starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant) which had been a hit in 1999. We were pleasantly surprised that the filmmakers did not fake the mood of the quarter but presented it pretty close to reality (except that we did neither met Mr. Grant nor Mrs. Roberts.)
My photo shows the beautiful historic town houses of Lansdowne Crescent. The area has not changed at all over the past two decades. The street even has its own Wikipedia entry.
Fascinating.
