The story behind the image
We spent the last week in Paris to explore the city, and the Eiffel Tower is most certainly a key attraction and probably among the most photographed buildings in the world. We had booked our slot for visiting the platforms 1 and 2 (using the stairs) way in advance, and so we did not have a choice concerning the weather (it was raining an hour after this shot.)
So why the image of the Eiffel Tower then? Well, firstly, I wanted to have a shot of this iconic building. I had seen it before, but I never photographed the tower from Trocadero. Secondly, I found it to be not bad-looking at all. Quite the contrary. The lack of harsh sunlight actually helps the image (I think.) The soft grey clouds provide a nice background that can be even used for captions, ideally in an article covering Paris in dull weather.
