The story behind the image
Here’s another shot from my trip to Paris in 1988. It shows the a wide angle view across the city, seen from the Rue Saint-Éleuthère in Montmartre, near the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur.
The area has only barely changed since 1988. The TV antenna has been removed from the roof of the building on the left. Back then, and today, the masses of tourists push through the streets of Montmatre on their way to or from Sacré Cœur.
I like the idea of the backyards being small retreats for the Parisians, places where they can get away from the buzz on the streets.
