The story behind the image
In Germany, it’s a good tradition to start the new year with a long walk on the 1st of January. If the weather (and your condition after the party) permit, you do an excursion.
This is what we did on the first day of the year in 2008. We drove to the village of Seeshaupt at the Starnberger See. A bit south of the village are several small lakes, including the Ostersee which is a beautiful all-year destination.
There had been some snow since Christmas, but Seeshaupt had received a lot of snow. And it was cold, really cold. We originally intended to walk from Seeshaupt around the Ostersee, but it was impossible. The sights, however, were still stunning. Just like this path through the forest.
