The story behind the image
Our first walk in the year of 2022 took us to the Eisbach in the English Garden in Munich. It was a cold, but beautiful and sunny day. We started our walk at the southern tip of the park. Here, at the Eisbachwelle the small river gets really fast – a popular spot for surfers who want to practice their skills during summer.
We were pretty surprised to see the surfers now. They were apparently starting the year with an icy surf in the floods. That’s true commitment to a sport and requires some bravery and a clear head.
In any event, it is was stunning to watch them practice on that day.
