The story behind the image
Here’s another photo from one of my best trips ever: a road trip from Kiel in Northern Germany to Portugal (roughly 3,100 km one way). Back then, Portugal was mostly unspolit by tourism, and the outlook to spend six to eight weeks in this beautiful country was exciting.
We headed for the Algarve first and spend a long time exploring the area. On our way back to Germany we did a stop-over in Lisbon for a couple of days.
We had visited the beaches close to Lisbon that day and were now to get to the busy city. We considered using the Ponte 25 de Abril that spans the Tejo river with its stunning architecture that is similar to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. However, we realized that it would be just a very short experience, and we would not be able to enjoy seeing the bridge entirely.
So we decided to use the car ferry instead. We had plenty of time to enjoy the warm wind on the water and capture a photo of the bridge and the Cristo Rei monument.
Nice.
