The story behind the photo

This is one of the early color photos in our family archive. Presumably shot by my grandfather, it shows my grandmother as she rests on the outside of a ‘beach castle’ in St.-Peter-Ording in Germany.

The print is dated 1956, and it is already in a poor condition today. See the color calibrated scan below to see how it looks today. I did some editing to get rid of the red and yellow bias and like the result. I guess my edited version is what Edith and Otto got back from the lab 66 years ago when the print was still fresh.
