The story behind the image
Dublin in Ireland is always a wonderful destination, be it for a weekend trip or a longer stay. When in Dublin, we recommend also exploring the surroundings of the city. For example, just a couple of minutes on the train will get you to Howth, a town situated at the sea. It still has a small working harbour, and you will find countless stunning photo opportunities (and lots of fresh seafood offered by the shops next to the pier.)
When we were re-visiting Howth in 2005, the weather was not picture perfect, sadly, just a cloudy day. But this image of the fisherboat Star of Bethlehem grabbed my attention as it was quite rusty and apparently waiting for someone to kiss it back to life, or at least to refurbish it. (Here’s a 2003 stock photo that shows the boat in better condition.)
Still, it illustrates perfectly the idea of a working harbour. I love the rusty details and dominating blue color. Nice.
