The story behind the image
Here is a nice shot of Praia de Alvor as it presented itself to us in 1988: towards the west, it’s one giant beautiful beach with natural dunes that protected the village and lagoon against the Atlantic Ocean.
In general, the beach looks very similar today, just the dunes are way smaller. That’s why the community has added solid boardwalks guiding visitors over the dunes to protect the sensitive environment.
Definitely a place worth returning to.
