The story behind the image
When in Florence, do it like the – other countless tourists you will encounter! 🙂 For example: Take a decent photo of the David Statue in front of the Uffizi, said to be the best known sculpture in human history.
We were lucky enough to catch this beautiful late-afternoon impression. David is still mostly illuminated by the setting sun, throwing nice shadows to the wall behind him. For some strange reason, the tourists were all ducking away so it seems as if we were the only visitors at the time (we were not.)
Please note, though, that on the Piazza there’s just a replica. The original is exhibited in the Galleria dell’Accademia.
