The story behind the image
My grandmother Edith Gehring was born in Oldenburg (Lower Saxony) in Germany in 1905. She grew up in Schönwalde am Bungsberg. This is one of her first studio photos in the family archive. It was photographed in 1907 or 1908 by Julius Simonsen in Oldenburg in Holstein. (Read more about Simonsen in my post from earlier today.)
I love to discover historic images of people, even more so when I can relate them to my family. And it’s truly exciting to see that one of the photo pioneers in the area has photographed my grandmother.
P.S.: The dog is the family dog, as my great-grandfather was a ranger, but I don’t know the name of the dog.
