The story behind the image
In April 2022 I already shared a scan of this 1995 slide of the lighthouse at Cabo de Sao Vicente in Portugal.
However, back then I used an (old) Kodak PhotoCD scan as foundation. Since Adobe Photoshop does not natively support reading Kodak PhotoCD scans any longer (it did for many versions, though), I used ACDSee to batch convert all Kodak PhotoCD scans so I could at least access those scans again.
Now I came across the original slide in the archive and did a fresh new scan. In the 100% view in Photoshop I see improved details mostly in the shadows. And I enjoy a much higher resolution: 27.3 instead of 5.8 MP. Of course, I know (and see) that the slide does not really contain 27.3 MP as it tends to be quite soft when viewed at 100%. But I do have at least a chance to work with more pixels, and more accurately scanned pixels as well.
