The story behind the image
When re-visiting Portugal’s Algarve region in 1995 I brought plenty of slide film. On my earlier trips I had used negative films. This slide shows the beach of Castelejo (Praia do Casteljo) at the west coast near Vila do Bispo, Sagres, and Cabo de São Vicente, the south-western end of the European continent.
While the waves of the Atlantic Ocean hit the unprotected cliffs relentlessly and with venegance, they roll out very gently over the flat sand of the beach.
This wide angle shot gives the center stage for the clean sand with its countless shades of yellow and brown as it gently transforms into the reflection of the blue sky. Lovely.
