The story behind the image
We stayed at the Hotel Augusta in Malcesine for a couple of days. It is situated above the village, providing beautiful views across Lake Garda. It is a short walk of about 5 minutes to the center of the village with all the restaurants, shops and attractions.
The view from our room was beautiful and we enjoyed stunning sunsets, even more so as we were on the same level as the castle. One evening I took the tripod and did a couple of long exposures of the blue hour that had set in already.
Of course, the blue hour is always special, but in this image I like the way the lights on the opposite side of the lake seem to stream out of the brightly illuminated castle like bubbles in champagne.
