The story behind the image
Vieste at the east coast of Italy is well worth a visit. It is surrounded by the Parco Nacionale del Gargano that invite for long hikes in the shadow of the large, unspolit woods. But it has also beautiful beaches along the entire coastline. And a vibrant town that has all the amenities you’d expect.
You clearly feel that you are in southern Italy already as it was still hot in September. What’s more, at Vieste you sense the influence of the past just by looking at the sea of houses which have been influenced by the Arabic style and hot temperatures. They’re painted all in white to reflect the sunlight, and the streets are narrow to provide maximum shadow. Large palm trees provide additional shadows.
