The story behind the image
In spring 1999 we visited Bologna which does not belong to the must-do lists of many travellers. Which is a big mistake, because the city offers a lot. Not only does it carry young charms of an university city, it also has a rich history. In the city center you’ve got the historic twin towers with awesome views across Bologna.
Outside of the city center you will find the Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Luca which can be reached after a relaxing walk that takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes. (It is about 5 km from the Piazza Maggiore.) Take your time and enjoy the historic Portico devozionale di San Luca which offers many nice views. Finally, once at the Sanctuary you will have an awesome 360° view.
As I am writing this, it is winter in Munich, Germany, and thinking about Bologna in spring is just great. Love it.
