The story behind the image
One of the key attractions during the international sailing event Kieler Woche (Kiel Week) is the presence of countless yachts that provide a true maritime experience to the visitor. Actually, the city of Kiel totally matches their official claim Sailing City. When we joined an excursion with the Russian tall ship Mir we experienced a fantastic day at the sea.
I like this image for its high viewpoint (thanks to being on the Mir), so you get a different angle than from a smaller yacht. This skipper is already gaining speed as he heads for the open Baltic Sea.
