The story behind the image
Our scenic flight across the Sossusvlei Dunes was full of exciting views, and the dunes were most certainly the highlight.
This photo shows the beginning of a dune on the southern side of the main road through the Sossusvlei. The late afternoon sun was casting long shadows already, dipping the eastern side of the dune into dark shadow. The little dots at the border of the dune are trees. This puts the enormous size of the dune into perspective.
Very nice.
