The story behind the image
Florence is a great destination for all seasons, but without doubt, it is most beautiful during summer. We had been to Florence before and knew around way around. What was still missing in my portfoloio was a nice digital native shot across the city from Piazzale Michelangelo, the awesome viewpoint high above the city.
So I brought the 1Ds mark II, and we walked all the way up to the Piazzale Michelangelo. As always – great views, awesome atmosphere. In the distance there was a bit of mist, preventing a totally clear image, but four of the countless attractions are clearly visible: River Arno, Ponte Vecchio, the tower of Palazzo Vecchio, and – of course – the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore. Lovely.
