The story behind the image
Some historical images make you smile and realize how much more advanced we are today. Take this photo from a trip that remote members of my family made in spring 1957 to San Juan d’Alacant in Spain.
A horse drawn carriage stands at the empty beach of San Juan. It has bottles with drinks on the platform, but as there are no customers, it must be some kind of delivery service for the nearby houses or a bar (which could be located off-frame on the left.) The driver of the carriage has unloaded two or three large bottles already (behind the carriage.)
This was just 64 years ago.
Gosh, we should all be happy that this kind of hard work is not needed any longer.
