The story behind the image
There is something about fishermen that I really like. Probably it’s their dedication to move out to the sea or lake and face the elements, regardless of the time of the year or the weather. They look so tiny compared to the sea, yet they are brave enough to use their small boats to bring in their catch every day.
I shot this image on an afternoon of an (admittedly calm) spring day at Lake Garda, concretely from the northern part of Via Lungolago in Malcesine. The tiny island in the back is the unmanned Isola dell’Olivo.
I like the subtle mist that hides the details of the mountains in the back and the dominating blue color that is perfect to illustrate the water topic. And, of course, the single brave fisherman.
