The story behind the image

Last month I did a short trip to Flensburg in Northern Germany. One of the reasons was a trip back in time. My grandparents used to live close to this beach in the North East of Flensburg. It is called Solitüde (Solitude in English), and it’s a matching name for this beach. Rarely hot enough to attract masses of tourists, you’ll meet mostly locals who enjoy a day at the beach.

Now, while I was re-visiting this place of my childhood, I found this single tree – a nice addition to my Lonely Tree Series. I love it because of the clear blue and green colors that transport the cool nordic sentiment so well.
