The story behind the image
As pointed out several times recently, the west coast of Portugal is one long, incredibly beautiful stretch of land. Here’s another example of this stunning landscape, from our 1988 trip to Portugal: Praia do Amado. It’s located 2 km outside of Carrapateira and it is quite popular with surfers and surf newbees who adore the rough waters and tall waves. Plenty of space for everyone and not too many families with kids who prefer the calm waters of the south coast anyway.
While the area has been developed further over the past three decades – especially at the beach which features a surf school and a large parking lot today – it has remained more or less the same.
I’d still consider it as a secret tip for those looking for an authentic Portuguese experience.
