The story behind the image
Crossing the Death Valley in California on the Highway 190 is exciting: Despite the extremely straight (and boring) highway you will discover plenty of awesome photo opportunities.
Like this photo of the Mesquite Sand Dunes of Death Valley. They are fairly close to the highway, at least so close that I could capture them with the 70-210 mm tele zoom. For a split second we did consider taking a hike towards the dunes but realized that this could turn out to be a really silly idea to walk for about two hours (for a round trip) in the middle of a desert called Death Valley without being properly equipped. So, we were happy with this nice shot and kept on driving to Lone Pine, the next stop on our journey.
