The story behind the image
February used to be the time of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain. I was sent off to attend the conference in 2006 for my employer, and it was my first time in this awesome, vibrant city. When the schedule permits, I love to explore a new city or location. In this case, I hopped on a bus with a guided tour in the late afternoon.
One of the many architectural attractions is Torre Mapfre, a high rise building with extremely clear lines. When we drove by, I immediately had this picture in mind. It puts the focus on the edges of the building, that all seem to lead towards the top corner. But the palm tree in the front adds a natural element that – with all its chaotic details – acs as the perfect counterpart to the building. I think it’s a nice image, even if shot just with my tiny Sony P&S camera.
