The story behind the image
A few miles north of Dundee we left the A90 for a quick side-trip to Glamis Castle, a genuine fairy-tale castle. Approaching the castle is a stunning experience – and I simply had to stop our car to capture this wonderful photo. It provides lots of copyspace and can be cropped to square and portrait aspect ratios without losing its beauty.
The castle has been the family home of the Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne since 1372. In 1376 Sir John married the King’s daughter, and since then Glamis has been visited and lived in by many members of the Scottish and British royal families.
