The story behind the image
On our long trip through Italy in 2000 we stopped for one night at the Lago di Bolsena, at the Lido Camping Village which is situated outside of Bolsena directly at the beautiful Lago di Bolsena. Plenty of trees provide shadow in the summer, and there should be enough room for everyone. The site itself offers everything you would expect from a modern camp site, like a shop, restaurant, and clean facilities.
Bolsena is a nice little town that is quite popular among tourists and can get crowded during the summer months.
I took this photo from slightly above the Rocca Monaldeschi della Cervara in Bolsena. And exactly this position opens up the magic, because the blue sky you see in the back is actually – the lake! The morning sun was still casting long shadows creating warm colors and nice contrasts between the buildings. Lovely.
