The story behind the image
Time was pressing – I was already on my way, known only to my parents. But in 1965 it was not acceptable to give birth to a child without being married. So they arranged their wedding quickly, and on 7th May 1965 they got married. First came the official part at the registry office in Kiel, just a bureaucratic step needed for legal reasons. And then, at 2 pm, came the formal wedding at the Lutherkirche in Kiel, followed by a party with family and friends.
