The story behind the image
Back in 2003, the San Francisco Seaplane Base with its ticket booth was located prominently at the main entrance of Pier 39. We could not resist to do it. We had a fantastic time at the Pacific Rim National Park and we had high hopes that a scenic flight across San Francisco might be equally impressive.
There was only one company offering such flights: Seaplane Adventures. They operated a deHavilland Beaver directly from Pier 39 (by now they have moved their base to Sausalito).
We began with a flight along the skyline of San Francisco and over the Bay Bridge with the Financial District. Then we made a right hand turn towards downtown San Francisco. An awesome experience.
