The story behind the image
It had been a gift for the father-in-law – a ride in a hot air ballon somewhere close to the Bavarian Alps. Corona prevented a ride in 2020, but for 2021 we could fix a schedule with Blue Planet Ballooning in Berganger, Bavaria.
And so, on a pretty autumn morning, the family drove to Berganger – and four of the family members went on a hot air balloon trip. I couldn’t, because I’m afraid of heights, so it would not be the best ideas to ride a hot air balloon. But I captured a number of nice shots from the ground.
For this post I picked this impressive wide angle shot. It shows the balloon shortly after its start on a field near the Blue Planet Ballooning office. The sun had started lurking behind the clouds and so there was adramatic mix of clouds, sunlight and blue sky.
By the way, the ride continued nice and uneventful and the balloon landed safely in Rott am Inn about 90 minutes later.
