The story behind the image
South Africa is home to countless fantastic beaches. This is one of them: Maitland Beach. We found it close to Summerstrand and Port Elizabeth directly on the M9. It stretches to the far end of the bay, about 20 kilometers in total. You can see the wild sea with powerful waves rolling gently up the beach. In March it was already too cold for a bath (at least, for us), but a long walk along the empty beach is a very relaxing activity.
I like this photo because it shows the huge size of the beach and illustrates the power of the ocean. I remember being really amazed by the massive dunes from this perspective, a view I had never experienced before.
