The story behind the image
Access to the Lago Maggiore is shared by two countries: Italy in the South and Switzerland in the North. We stayed for a week on the Swiss side in Brissago, which is just a short drive away from the Italian border. The area is called Ticino and combines the best of two worlds: You get the Swiss accuracy and Italian lifestyle.
I took this photo while waiting for our passenger ferry to explore the Lake. The Hotel Mirto Al Lago is located directly at the ferry pier and offers fantastic views across the lake. I love the colors, the long shadows, and the dominant Swiss flag which makes a statement that you are now in Switzerland. I just love this place.
