The story behind the image
This image shows my great grandmother. She was born and raised in the Alsace area which is located between France and Germany. In 1902 she had turned 18 and apparently went to one of the photo studios owned and operated by Emile Lorson. The objective: to get a decent portrait photo. Lorson was quite successful at that time and owned two studios, one in Strassburg and one in Schlettstadt, but I don’t know where this photo was taken. Anyway, I think it is really beautiful (and she is, too.)
It is one of the oldest photographs in our family archive. I scanned the image from the original 6 x 9 cm CdV in 2021 and edited it just gently to preserve its beauty for the generations to come.
