The story behind the image
This image from 1958 is from the large lot of slides I purchased a couple of weeks ago. It shows the Piazza di San Marco with the Basilica di San Marco and the Campanile di San Marco in Venice, Italy.. It is as busy as it has always been, and it is a joy to see that very little has changed since then. And no, despite being a true fan of Italy, I haven’t been to this city yet. But it’s on my bucket list.
However, a while ago I shared the image of the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. Looking at the tower, it seems to be an almost exact replica of the original. Why fly to Italy when you can have it Nevada as well?
Amazing.
