The story behind the image
Okay, currently there are fireworks all over the globe to celebrate the new year.
I spare the environment a bit of smoke and dust and CO2 and share an image I took this summer in Grömitz in Germany. There was a huge party at the beach promenade. The topic of the party was Ostsee in Flammen (“Baltic Sea in Flames”) which attracted not just visitors from the area but from all over northern Germany. The community had provided extra parking lots on the harvested corn fields near Grömitz to take up the masses of cars!
The biggest highlight, and namegiver of the party, were the fireworks over the Baltic Sea. I had brought a tripod and the remote controller and timer Canon TC-80N3. I placed the tripod and camera on our beach chair which was challenging easy (as it is forbidded to climb onto the beach chairs) and did a couple of test shots to adjust the frame.
And then we waited for the fireworks.
I set the camera to manual mode with an exposure time of 14 seconds at f/22. Of course, I tried to get the rhythm of the explosions so I could capture a major explosion over the pier.
The result? Several awesome shots of the explosions over the pier.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
