The story behind the photo
A holiday trip to the island of Kos, Greece, resulted in several beautiful shots of the Kos town center and the island, including this shot after sunset during the ‘Blue Hour’ at Marmari Beach.
I mounted the camera on a tripod and picked a very long exposure time to blur the bottom of the image where the waves rolled up to the beach. The effect is a gloden shimmer in the far distance and an out-of-this-world blur in the front.
Shot with a Canon AE-1 Program on negative film which got lost over the years. Fortunately I had this very good and undamaged print sitting in the archive which I scanned and slightly edited in 2025.
I love it.
